How do Instagram fonts work?
Instagram does not let you change fonts. These styles use special Unicode characters that look like bold, italic or script letters, so you can copy and paste them anywhere that accepts text.
Where can I use these fonts?
They work in your Instagram bio, name field, captions, comments and stories, as well as on TikTok and most other apps. Usernames only allow letters, numbers, periods and underscores, so they cannot use fancy fonts.
Are fancy fonts bad for accessibility?
Screen readers may read the characters one by one or skip them, and search may not match them. Use fancy fonts for a word or two of emphasis and keep keywords, names and important details in normal text.
Why do some characters show as boxes?
A few older phones and apps do not have every Unicode symbol. If a style shows boxes or blanks, choose a more common one like bold or italic.
